pretty solid IMO
there's several guys right around 58 I like a lot:
3. Green Bay Packers: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington: If it weren’t for the foot injury, ASJ would have gone higher.
54. Philadelphia Eagles: Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina: Quick and fast playmaker who is perfect for the slot.
55. Cincinnati Bengals: Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri: The Bengals add pass rushing depth with Missouri’s Ealy.
56. San Francisco 49ers: Kyle Van Noy, LB, BYU: Too good to pass up at this spot.
57. San Diego Chargers: Joel Bitonio, OL, Nevada: The versatile lineman can play guard or tackle.
58. New Orleans Saints: Marcus Martin, OL, USC: Another versatile lineman who can play OG or OC.
60. Carolina Panthers: Pierre Desir, CB, Lindinwood: The small school phenom has a lot of upside.

Martin has to be the pick if he's there

I don't see Martin getting passed NYG i think we get Ritchburg

Every mock has us taking Martin, but if he is gone I see us waiting for a center.

This is the first I've heard of him being able to play guard.

I wouldn't be mad or anything, but I would rather Desir. I think Swanson or Stork will be there in the 4th

seriously? you haven't been paying attention then. the chatter on him has been that he can play guard or center, and if here he would be center and ultimately replace Grubbs or Evans when one of them leave

then we gotta do this whole center in the first/second round shite deal all over again next year?
Posted on 5/9/14 at 1:45 pm to Chad504boy
let's just focus on this year.

Guys, remember when Dee Ford was a Saint?

just a matter of grading
If ya think Martin is a surefire day one dominant starter versus a 4th or 5th Rder that might be on par with Lelito then pulling the trigger is easy. His 20 starts at guard at USC are huge IMO. $20mil a year for guards heading past age 30 is quite constraining, no matter how good they are.

There is a lot of high quality players still available. And even though were picking in the late 2nd, we still will get a quality player. I expect to see a few QBs and RBs go in the 2nd. A good player will drop to us.
Would love to get Martin. Dont have a problem with that at all.
And 1 of my fav players in the entire draft has been Phillip Gaines, so I would be thrilled to get him. Think he will be a top DB from this draft when its all said and done.
Also wouldnt mind taking Desir either.
Lots of good players still available, and lots of options to choose from.

Then you haven't been paying attention. He played Guard his first two years at USC.
Interesting tweet from PFF:
quote:
@PFF: What position is the most likely to play day 1? During PFF era 1st round Cs average most snaps (955) year 1. Next best pos OT (940).
Obviously this has no correlation as to any Center prospect we may or may not take, but I know a lot of people question whether or not a Center we draft would start day 1. My answer would be yes, if it's Martin or Richburg. Any of the other guys, especially Stork, I feel like we would have to wait a year or so on. Which is why I'm against the whole "We can wait until the 6th to draft a Center!" crowd.
I think you take Martin or Richburg, let whoever you pick battle it out with Lelito. Winner takes the starting Center job this year, loser potentially takes a starting Guard spot next.
