What are some exceptional athletes that would have been household names had they not had the misfortune to play during the era of a GOAT athlete?

Sham was an excellent racehorse in his own right, and would have set a record at the Derby had he not been racing at the same time as Secretariat.

The guy who started ahead of me in basketball my junior year of HS went on to play 4 years of D3 ball, so yea I would've shined if it wasn't for that stud

He's serious though.

KD would be getting so much publicity if LeBron wasn't around right now. What he is doing in the league is amazing. Too bad LeBron is doing it slightly better.
