How deep our big board probably needs to be for 2nd round

We pick 26. Let's figure minimum 2 qb's off the board, 2 te's off the board, 1 rb minimum off the board, that leaves 20 guys deep. And if we scratch OT's off moses and cyrus probably likely to be selected as well, we're at 18 deep now.

I'd hate to completely dismiss the thought of drafting 2 wr's in a row but assuming we don't, that's maybe an additional 2-3 guys we can scratch off. Leaving us at 15-16 guys we need to be deep at.

For some reason, i like thinking about things in this kind of manner.

I am pushing for WR-WR picks if things fall right. After next year, we may be down to Stills and Cooks. Colston is too much of an unknown future at this point given his injury history and appearance of declining a bit. IF we were to go WR again, it would have to be a taller one. Stills and Cooks aren't big dudes, and sans Colston we are small at the position.

Would you draft Moncrief as early as the 2nd?

I would say Lee and Latimer will be gone by then as well.

I'd say Latimer, Matthews, Robinson... possibly Moncrief fits the better complimentary role that they could go w/ if they nabbed another WR.

I don't think its likely but i can see a small case being made if they love the valuable of the pick.

Latimer and Matthews are the 2 WRs I'd take in the 2nd. Otherwise, I'd prefer to go Center or CB, depending on who's there.

eggsactly, you could say they still feel like they are getting 1st round talent in the late 2nd at the position....

Guys still available that more than likely won't make it to us:

Ealy, DE/OLB
Marquise Lee, WR
Joel Bitonio, OG
Moses, OT
Tuitt, DE/DT
Lawrence, OLB
Su'a-Filo, OG
Cody Latimer, WR
Carr, QB
Garoppolo, QB
Sefarian-Jenkins, TE
Jace Amaro, TE
Hageman, DT
Jernigan, DT
Kouandjio, OT
Carlos Hyde, RB

That's 16 right there. Me personally, I wouldn't mind giving up 2015 picks to move up to get who we want. Don't like next year's prospects and this draft is too deep.

Hopefully someone takes Martin before us

unlikely... but i could easily see them doing it. It's not like we just had one hole at WR and maybe they think the depth is better at other positions. we need a C but if a run starts at other positions and leaves a stud WR, we would take him. I say 15%

I hope we at least move back into the 3rd round.

That is exactly what I have been saying. We came into this draft with 2 holes at WR along with holes at CB, C, OLB. We can't just ignore drafting for that 2nd hole for no reason other than "well we already drafted one this year." Remember when Packers drafted 3 CB's about 10yrs ago? They had multiple needs there, and they went hard at it.

*yes, I pulled a Blues by referencing one of my threads here

We do have that extra 5th, but again, I don't think 2015 is deep at all. I wouldn't mind unloading some of those to stock up in this solid draft

I said the same thing last night. I was hoping that we would trade back into the first round last night to get Dennard.

I would absolutely part with next years' picks to get back into this draft. Hopefully this round or next.
