A victory for homeowners in EBR. Screw you Steve Myers, a true tPOS.

The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the city-parish housing ordinance restricting unrelated people from renting together in areas zoned A-1 residential is constitutional.

The high court’s decision reversed state District Judge Janice Clark’s 2013 ruling that found the housing ordinance unconstitutional and unenforceable.

Steve Myers, a (slum)lord and candidate in the 2012 mayoral race, sued the city-parish last year over the A-1 zoning regulation, which according to the Unified Development Code, means housing must be occupied by a “single family.”

Wow, Russian. I'm surprised you support this blatant, state-sponsored racism.

So this means that the a-hole slumlord will try to rent to section 8 instead of college students?

And exactly what was/is preventing it anyway?

Y'all really need to look up what the city-parish defines as "family" before supporting this. It's a joke and very disappointing that the SC reversed the lower court here.

Nothing as far as I can tell. I think he was just indicating that it is a possibility if this ruling was overturned.

Torn on this.

It seems like a shortcut, if college students are creating a problem, then deal with that problem.

But on the other hand no one wants this to happen.

Pretty much.

Southdowns residents are going to wish like Hell they had a bunch of college students in about 2 years.

Then change the definition of family, but don't try and subvert the zoning codes which protect property owners.

People that buy property in EBR buy it knowing the zoning requirements and deed restriction which all serve to insure the neighborhood, subdivision or whatever stays uniform.

I doubt many here would want to buy a home in Southdowns or any other residential subdivision only to have the neighbors become 4 guys going to college and making the adjoining property into a modern day fourplex.

Steve Myers bought those units knowing how they were zoned, etc. I do not feel sorry for him.

The definition of family is in the zoning codes. That's what this was all about. Read up on it more before celebrating it just because you don't like Myers.

Janice Clark....overturned????? I am stunned that such a knowledgeable, qualified, honest and upstanding officer of the court could have fricked up another decision.

Change the definition of family in the zoning ordinance then.

I am fine with that, but having four guys and their buddies living next door to you is not a single family dwelling by anyone's definition.

And I do not know Steve Myers, but he seems like an opportunist whose driving a wedge between people for pure profit.

Last I heard, unofficially, Clark is the runaway winner of judges being overturned by a 2-1 margin & climbing. if anyone wants to see first hand what is wrong with the State's legal system, go sit in her courtroom for a few days. Myers was a POS when he owned the original Tiger Rag & has remained one.

"The Bible Of LSU Sports"

We're spoiled now, but I remember knowing exactly what day and time they delivered the weekly Tiger Rag which always had the latest and greatest on recruiting.

Along with WWL and Hap Glaudi's show, Tiger Rag was the source for recruiting information.

Things have certainly changed.

And, of course, the one and only fricking chance to get her off of the bench (because God knows her gerrymandered constituency sure the frick isn't going to turn her out) is in jeopardy thanks to the dumbasses in the Legislature.

Just going to end up being section 8, depending on how much the government voucher covers. I'm sure rent will still be high unless he just wants to really frick everyone over.
