LSU master plan to restore Huey P. Long Field House revealed

“Operationally, it’s not a need for it,” Tipton, a 1981 graduate of LSU said. “The pool wasn’t the reason people came but a part of the gathering experience." Tipton says the pool area can still be a part of the fabric within the new plan to make the field house as vibrant as it once was.
Under the master plan, the pool would return as it once was, but a “college lawn” would be put in place, leaving area for students and faculty members to gather for leisure time. But there will be a pool. Tipton says the plan includes building a long linear reflecting pool, which would bring activity to the lawn and reserve the legacy of the area.
Roger husser, director of lsu planning, design, & construction for the lsu office of facility services, said before LSU proceeds with any plans, they want to make sure its acceptable for the community at large. Husser says funding for the project would come from private entities, some grants and capital outlay funds from the state. The next step, Husser says, will include some community meetings and a possible feasibility study.
I guess it's better than letting it go to waste. Would love to see a pool like the old days, but I believe we are way beyond that. Way too much risk and insurance cost higher than giraffe pussy.

That along with upkeep and maintenance are the problem. I think the structure and old architecture alone is incredible. To make that interior space a lawn of some type would be cool.
LSU will never install anything that has a fountain or requires aquatic maintenance. I have worked on many projects with them in school and professionally. They don't like or want them.

I swam in that pool for one of the last DZ Anchor Splash events.
Finished 1st and all of the bitches were on me like white on rice.

Hopefully it won't be a mosquito pit like the old reflecting pool by the Greek Theatre.

i went to LSU at the wrong time. Best time frame for sports, but worst in the transition of actually updating the facilities on campus. I literally passed out in spanish class because the ac was broken, in august. I overheated and had to get an iv.

I took most of my classes there and the building was a cluster. Glad it is finally getting fixed up.
