In the novel Flowers For Algernon Charlie, a mentally retarded janitor, watches college students laughing and having fun on the campus green, and longingly wishes he could be part of it all.

This thread makes me feel the opposite -- like I'm looking at the yard of a home for the mentally retarded and seeing the inmates laughing at in-jokes I can never be privy to.

Unlike Charlie I'm quite happy to be left out.

All I got from that was that you are a janitor at a college for the mentally retarded (Southern?), who was once in prison, and has his own inside jokes.

You are an interesting dude, Kefka

This thread cracks me up.

Can someone please explain exactly what red dirt country is? What does that mean? And what is brown dirt country?

And do people actually listen to colt ford? For real?

Brown dirt country isn't a thing. Browngrass is, though...it's like bluegrass, only dirtier.

This thread is gold. I cannot stop laughing.

Red dirt country is a fusion of traditional country with southern rock. Lots of fender telecaster distorted sound and lots if fiddle.

It is just as much of a geographical term as it is a genre. If it doesn't come from Texas or Oklahoma it's not red dirt

I don't know, Hood is obviously way more red dirt than Isbell. 3 tiers better, from what I've seen.

Jason Isbell is from Alabama. If you would please direct attention to the map below, it shows the distribution of Ultisol, which is a scientific term for Red Dirt.

You'll notice that Red Dirt lines the entire Southeast. Essentially, Alabama is Red Dirt Country, making Isbell a red dirt Country act...just not a very good one, Tier 4 actually
