How do Moderate Democrats Take Back the National Party?

As a Moderate Democrat, I'm concerned over the future of my party. The extreme left-wing that has seized control is not representative of what the true Democratic Party should stand for. It's troubling. I don't want Democrats like myself to go independent, or switch to the Republican Party, but fight to take back control. Is this possible?

I assume you're an old school democrat? the James Carville type? If so you should just join the Green Party.
Why do you consider yourself moderate?
What issues do you differ with most of your party?

The d's label the R's who try to take the part back tea baggers. Need to come up with a clever name for your group trying to move the D's back to the center. Good Luck!

Pro-life (with exceptions for rape/incest)
Protection of the 2nd amendment
I believe in smaller government and keeping taxes as low as possible, but would not support a flat tax. I would be in favor of abolishing the departments of Homeland Security, VA, Education, HUD, Transportation.

Really, this past year when I witnessed the effects firsthand. At a gathering of younger democrats, I brought up the idea of creating a moderate caucus, and received looks of contempt. Secondly, seeing our state party leadership in lock step with the Obama administration.

Hmm, do we not have a party for those positions?
