Did you really just type that in the same sentence? SO you want to save money on the one piece of electronics that will supply you entire home with entertainment?

Good luck....you are basically talking about saving $50.

Well, I don't want top spend $150 on a cable modem either. Was looking around $60 - $100 range.

I found that if you put a modem right next to the wireless router, the signal gets messed up.

I can't explain why. It sucks though.
I had relocated my router and realized I had a probelm, now I have a LAN with a wired router and two wireless but it's hard to find the printers and hard drives on the lan sometimes.

I hate routers.

Napoleon, switch to wireless access points. The way that wireless routers assign ip addresses is preventing your wireless clients from seeing your wired hardware.
