You voted and officials say the new color for the Jimmie Davis bridge will be purple!

More than 7,100 votes were cast by residents for 8 different colors like green, blue, purple, gray and gold.

The paint will be the last thing done in the bridge's rehabilitation project as the structural repairs will take place first.

The bridge's rehab is estimated to cost between $15 and $20 million dollars.

Purple won by more than 30% of votes. Blue came in second and the color red was third.

"ohhhhh purple!! Well that's just like LSU! It won't look ridiculous at all and maybe South Louisiana will like us now!"

Thats what Im thinking. Teague will be slammed, BCPD/BCFD will be working overtime on Shreveport/Barksdale bridge.

I guess I will just take 3132 to 49 to 20 every day.

I'm lucky, I don't have to cross the river. A year or two ago they shut down only one lane and the ripple effects on traffic could be seen on 70th all the way back up to Bickham Dickson. If they shut the whole thing down it will be a serious shite show.

Maybe it'll keep the riff-raff out of Shreveport.

Painting bridges is kinda cool. This is one great example, IMO:

The bridge is also a cable suspension bridge, so it's got a great appearance as well as color that fits the ambiance of Pittsburgh. It's become iconic.

It's being painted purple to show support for Byrd.
