I usually don't care about IPOs other than ones like Facebook where I know some mid 20's trader is having the worst day of his/her life defending the stock with their boss over their shoulder threatening their job (and probably life for the FB IPO).

But this one is huge, looking like it will be the biggest ever at $20B, surpassing Visa's $19.65B. It's great because Ali Baba is not a Chinese SOE by any means. Although it does have to play the game to operate there, its one of the few giant companies in China that doesn't have some sort of Maoist family connection for state support. One of the few Chinese "American Dream" stories.

Any idea of what it is going to be priced at?

Speaking of recent IPO's, Im debating on jumping on twitter. What a wild freaking ride. Down to $30 right now.

I keep hearing about their ad structure and how it will go out to a billion mobile users...

No idea, depends on which/how many banks run the deal. I doubt it'll be anywhere outside the 30-50 range but.

Sounds like something I would tell if you if I was trying to sell you the stock.

Im not familiar with it, but it sounds like it already runs on FB and other mobile applications... Its supposed to be similar to adsense from google.

I could have sworn Fast Miney said around $165- 200. Yahoo owns 22% of alibaba. Look to get on some yahoo options in the next few days.

LINK

There is some speculation that Alibaba could just buy YHOO.

Has anyone received a prospectus and offering from their broker yet?

Im debating on jumping on twitter.

Wouldn't be my choice. I've shorted TWTR all the way down, and have shares sold short right now. I see no compelling reason to buy to cover.

How big is this company?

Do they have an American counterpart?

No idea why they would do that, but there have been some bad IPO prices and I'm not eeven remotely involved with this deal so I don't know.

Unfortunately that trade is very crowded now, not to say there isn't any extra upside but even mainstream stories have been noting YHOO's stake since laast year.

It's definitely intriguing, but there is so much counterfeit merch on alibaba

LINK when these come in, they will have dre beats logo

Everything from golf clubs to fashion, alibaba has the counterfeiters. I'd stay away.

I'm waiting for wayfair IPO

Fast Money said the market cap would be between $165-$200 billion potentially. The $20B is what the IPO is expected to raise.
