Good read, and shows the quick progression from Vaccaro over the course of the season.

Vaccaro loses sight of the ball on the deep pass to Vincent Jackson, then fails to complete the tackle. This play was nullified by penalty:

I was going to say...

the play DIDN'T COUNT!

The addition of Jairus Byrd to play free safety should allow Vaccaro to play to his strengths even more in 2014. He’ll still have to play his fair share of split-safety coverages, but expect the Saints to continue to move him around the defense in order to thwart opposing tight ends and slot receivers, while allowing him to play downhill against the run.

wonder what exactly this will mean for Rafael Bush? Is he more of a coverage guy? Or is he more of a downhill player who is better in run support?

Bush is a pretty good all around safety, but won't wow you in any aspect. He's actually pretty similar to Vaccaro(though not as good).

I would say Vaccaro is very good in the box and think we can see him a lot there this year. When we go to 3 safety sets Bush and Byrd can play deep halves while Vaccaro plays under coverage or man on the TE.

Nothing shocking. I remember he had those specific blown coverage plays, but it was infinitely better than jenkins/harper.

He's going to be a rangy SS that is great against the run and is above average in coverage. Parts of Kam Chancellor + Earl Thomas in one

Yeah deep coverage isn't his specialty, but he can do it. He is a beast against the run, good in man coverage against TEs and HBs(and even a good bit or WRs), and plays short to mid zones well.

His blitzing could also use some work but he isn't terrible at it.

An announcer during one of the games compared him to a young rodney harrison. I thought it was spot on

Actually, it's great we re signed Bush. Last season, we had 3 safeties majority of the time. Rob Ryan would rather have an extra safety on the field than an extra CB. Safeties are typically more versatile, can play near the LOS almost as a LB, better blitzing and tackling in run support.

When we go 3 safeties, I think it'll be Byrd as the true single high FS, Bush the SS, and KV will be ball hawking. I see that as our base, but could change depending on our opponent. If we go against a team with a great passing attack, we could switch up KV and Bush role.

It's gonna be so nasty next year

Look at Harper in the first gif against ATl

I can't express how happy I am that he is gone and not only gone but to a rival. Sweet Jesus

I got to be honest, the main positions I watch are the guys up front, the D-line. So I hardly notice the secondary until the replays (most of the time).

occasionally I'll watch the LB's (the inside backers).

I mean I remember when Bush started to play more back in 2012. I remember wondering why he didn't play more and also thinking Quddus did alright when he had chance to play.
