Not to mention the farmer sprayed roundup on the entire levee before the season so we had zero cover

Sounds like you took it raw from the get go

We got the big shaft two years in a row by a farmer south of holmwood. SoB took our money two years in a row without water and then kicked us off the lease. Fwiw we had been on that farm for years and knew how good the blind was when it was flooded. Shallow wells and salt are not your friend.

As long as the DU duck spas are open in Missouri it will remain that way.

I try to do that as well but you need to go far enough North to actually get the birds that don't make it here anymore. Kansas in the Central Flyway and MO in the Sip Flyway seem to be the final destination for Green these days. Even Arkie is a gamble now.

Sadly, you thought I was joking. Duck hunting is tough. Good blinds cine open because they cost. But if you pay for a good one, you'll kill.
For $3000, you better learn to call specks.
I tried to tell you what to do. My family and personal friends farm thousands of acres from Welsh to Kaplan along with a leased marsh in P Island.
Doug Sonnier has a guide service for a living. Why anyone would think a guide, who has to try and put people on ducks daily, would give up a decent blind is beyond me. That's like asking Lamar advertising to sell you a location for your own sign.....they might, but that spot will have you advertising ice in Alaska.

You've had a couple if people here tell you kinda how the system works. But if you just advertise that you have $3k and want a blind, be ready to possibly get what your efforts afforded.

In general I'd figure that's true but actually have heard from a guide there that there's a few properties he really wished Doug did not lease out.

Last year was absolute garbage for me in SE La marshes but years leading up to it were pretty damn strong so I'm hoping for an on-time hatch this year and a return to what was just one year removed. The January surveys showed that the birds did show up in La just really late. Also, I'd be far more willing to lease a marsh blind than rice for the reasons so many have pointed out.....watching high snows all day and being surprised by the occasional spoonie just isn't worth the astronomical money. Here's hoping for birds showing up when the time comes!

North wind, hot, late hatch due to water levels on the breeding grounds. I'm not taking up for him because I would be pissed about those numbers too but you gotta realize there were less than 1/3 of the normal numbers in the state until after New Years.

Didn't we use this reason in like 2007? I think the statute of limitations is not up on using it again.

6500 bucks for 30 ducks, damn! I would be cream cheese stuffing the feathers.

Is that a guide service? I'm looking to do a good trip this season but I haven't booked anything yet. Am I too late to find an opening anywhere decent?
