I hear duck dynasty is getting into the lease business. Might even throw in a few freebie accessories

I actually got in my blind because somebody on here posted about it, so all hope isn't lost. You may be looking at the right time. Last year was such a bad year over all that I imagine a lot of people are giving up what are normally decent blinds.

But as has been said already, you will more than likely over pay for a blind until you make more personal connections and get blinds through word of mouth.

I can put you in touch with a guy who leases blinds in that area but I DO NOT GUARANTEE THE BLIND WILL BE WORTH A shite. We lease from him and did ok last year but most everybody else did horrible.

I would never pay $5000 to lease anything. I'm a $10 maybe $15 an acre kind of guy for deer hunting. Duck hunting I'd go public or pay for a guided hunt once a month for 4 months.

Not going to have any better luck in that area. Used to be a really good spot when most properties were in rice, but it has really gone downhill in the last 10 years with rice production almost zero these days. Every once in a while you can get into some ducks and sometimes a property does come available for lease but mostly outfitters and the few who have stuck it out are the only ones killing.

It really doesn't matter where you are thinking about leasing because this really applies just about anywhere, unless you have a pretty big checkbook or friends that can get you a seat in a spot with pictures of dead fowl as proof, you are taking a huge risk of getting a dud spot. Good properties just don't come available very often, if ever. If they are decent, they are claimed through word of mouth. The best bet is to either hunt with outfitters or get the equipment to hunt public.

Doug absolutely has some pricey blinds. Some good and some not so good. It's not easy but anywhere you go you have to try and figure out what the land is going for and how many birds the area has during the season. The problem with leasing from Doug is by the time the land owner and Doug both make money and he works up the field they are out of most peoples price range. 5-8.5k is what he's got available.

that sucks. I had our fields worked twice and water levels adjusted 3 times during the season no questions asked. Guess he or the farmer didn't like you very much.

That's terrible killing. I would say you can't base a thing off of last year alone though. Nobody killed birds last year except pecan island and some grand chenier marshes. South part of the basin picked up late but rice fields were bad the whole year. North wind, hot, late hatch due to water levels on the breeding grounds. I'm not taking up for him because I would be pissed about those numbers too but you gotta realize there were less than 1/3 of the normal numbers in the state until after New Years.

He can't control the ducks but the water situation was unacceptable


Not to mention the farmer sprayed roundup on the entire levee before the season so we had zero cover
