But it's legal for a woman to abort a baby and our government says it's her body and she can do what she will?isn't it my body and I should have the right to do with it what I will?

Not only that, but drugs in almost all cases impact only your own physical well being. Same can't be said for abortion.

I don't think the two have to be tied together. I think abortion should be largely illegal and drugs should be largely legal, and I don't think that is ideologically inconsistent at all.

What a novel, revolutionary line of reasoning

Same here but I would also add that it becomes my problem when I have to start paying for shite. When you make bad decisions, you, and not other taxpayers, should foot the bill.

It's amazing how a culture of fostering irresponsibility is now used as an economic excuse for more irresponsible behavior, isn't it?

Because of the things you might do once those substances are in your body. Like a drunk driver killing somebody, etc.

Of course it's ironic that alcohol is probably more harmful to others (as in my example) than any other illegal drug...but...hey...It's Miller Time, baby!

I'm for legalization (or at least decriminalization) of most drugs.

Because if you ingest bath salts you affect other people when you eat their faces.

Dopers should spend a few weeks at the emergnecy room or intensive care and watch the same folks, "Frequent Flyers", come in commotose, be nursed back to health, then repeat the cycle.
Maybe they should get an ID card, living will, then they could honestly make the arguement, "its my body".

False. When you drive on drugs, you put others at-risk. And that's only one possibility. Mayhem happens. Drugged people are never far away.

Because it is not about public safety or other such nonsense, but it is about control.

This is the only basis I ever had during the time I continued to support the illegality of drugs. I concede that it is still a valid point and will only agree to policy changes if this can be worked, somehow.

I agree that drugs should be, largely, legal - however, I believe that the consequences should be borne but the drug users - AND NO ONE ELSE.

If that means we let them die on the side of the road, we let them die on the side of the road.

I'm tough, but I'm fair.

So how often do you think drug users impact the physical well being of others? Out of all drug uses, give me your percentage.

Hint: It's a really low number.

People at an Al Anon meeting beg to differ. Drug abusers wreak havoc on their family members.

No it's not. Drug addicts affect a family like a tornado.

How much of that havoc is due to the limited availability of the drugs because they are illegal?
