thinking of going with the white marble gravel (see below)

i was about to pull the trigger on a 'scoop' at a rock quarry here in town (about $60 for a scoop) but someone said they thought the humidity, etc. made algae a problem and these would turn green pretty quick.

any truth to that? would i just hit 'em with some bleach solution periodically?

i am looking for something thats going to still look good in 3-4 years.

Mine are not green but dirt accumulates and grass grows in between. I wish it were gone.

I have no idea about the rocks, but I found a pretty pertinent post from a friend's facebook feed that says as follows:

Our front garden has them. Came with the house when bought it. While we don't particularly like the look and plan on changing it, we've had no problems in two years.

Look for some of the smaller limestone. No chance of mold and looks exactly the same 10 years later.

Can't advise on the algae, but it does seem like I have seen it on these before.

If you want some pics I can post some in a few minutes.

please do.

FYI this is edging around a deck in the backyard that has black 2x4s railings around the outside.

i want something so when it rains it wont splash mud & grass onto the lower railing. i thought the white would look good against the black.

i'm just starting this process though and dont know a thing about rocks.

River slicks.

Larger and smoother, but more money.

These are about 7 years old. Don't float, no algae, just go over the top of them with, some roundup/muratic acid every couple of months

We just did French drains around our house. We used what the rock yard called over sized pee gravel. It was $50 a ton. I think it looks great. We made rock drains, that come off of the French drains, that separate the different flower beds around the house. Ill try to post pics.

As long as they are in and area that drains well and in the sun for the most part, they should be fine.

I have the White marble Rocks, Rose bushes, azaleas and others growing well-spray every other week or so with Roundup to prevent weeds, which I did when I had mulch, and you will have no problems-let me see if I can find a pic.

I had some similar rocks shipped to me. They were collected from the banks of a river in the Amazon rainforest. They came a day late and it didn't look like the picture so I had them sent back.

Put newspaper down and then put your rocks on top of that. It keeps the weeds from growing in between. It also works when putting mulch down

I have these near my patio and they do fine. But, I second the river slick/creek flats suggestion. Will look much better.
