Living in Louisiana can I put several boxes of family photos in the attic during the summer or will the heat ruin them?

They'll be stuck into one big photograph the next time you see them.

Buy something that will completely seal them. Wouldn't be a bad idea to digitize before you do.

Depends on the temp of your attic. My parent keep a few wax boxes full of pictures in their attic. Their roof is insulated also though....

From experience, don't put them in the attic. The heat will cause the pictures to stick to each other. We bought large plastic (1' x 5') containers, put the albums in there, and slide the containers under beds in the house. The containers should seal against any outside water but they haven't been tested yet. I would also recommend to digitize the photos.

Digitize asap, put on discs, not flash drives. Keep in separate place from photos.

Keep original photos in climate controlled area. If you don't have storage room in your house consider renting a small room in a climate controlled storage facility. It's real cheap and safe.

Go sit in your attic today from 2-3 p.m. if you don't believe me.
