Republican primary. Tillis has Jeb Bush support. Rand Paul came in to help libertarian leaning Brannon. Anyone in that area know the story?

I'll be voting for Brannon, though he's a long shot. I don't know much about Brannon, but I do know a bunch about Tillis, and he's a creep.

Tillis has been dancing along a 39-41% line for sometime now, so it could be extremely close as to whether he will reach that 40% plateau to avoid a run-off., which Hagan obviously wants badly.

If he gets the nod it will either end up handing the seat back to the dems or with him flaming out as a comedy segment on the daily show IMO.

Unfortunately, we have seen that scenario play out too many times now - an empty primary win resulting in a general election loss and six more years of a seat being warmed by a democratic butt.

Somebody 'splain this to me:

This is from TODAY's (May 5, 2014) News & Observer, NC's second largest newspaper:

"Sen. Rand Paul endorses Brannon for NC Senate seat" -
The Associated Press May 5, 2014 Updated 3 hours ago

" CHARLOTTE, N.C. — U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is endorsing obstetrician Greg Brannon on the eve of the U.S. Senate primary election in North Carolina.

At a rally in Charlotte, the Kentucky senator said Monday that Brannon was the best candidate in Tuesday's crowded GOP field."

Is that saying Paul endorsed Brannon today?

Brannon is my guy... he has endorsements from the right people... i.e. Mark Levin and Rand Paul

But does that story sound like Rand endorsed Brannon today?

That's how the article reads but Rand endorsed him last year.

Rand endorsed him a long time ago and they had a rally together in Charlotte today.

I really like Brannon but if he somehow beats Tillis he will need to find a way "dumb down" his talk for the average voter. We all know about how much the average voter tunes in.

Thank you . That was my point.

The endorsement appeared in the very same newspaper on October 16, 2013:

"Morning Memo: Greg Brannon’s Senate campaign touts Rand Paul endorsement"

Posted by John Frank on October 16, 2013

" Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul endorsed Republican Greg Brannon for North Carolina’s marquee U.S. Senate race, giving the Cary physician’s low-profile campaign a huge boost.

I enthusiastically endorse Greg Brannon for U.S. Senate because he’s a true constitutional conservative who will join me in fighting against business as usual in Washington,” Paul said in a statement Wednesday morning ..."

I have been following politics forever and have never seen a 7-month old endorsement published in the very same newspaper the day before an election as if it was a new endorsement. The Brannon campaign has been touting the Paul endorsement ever since last October.

The timing was downright odd.

Then I saw this further down in the article:

"Earlier in the day, Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, announced his support for state House speaker Thom Tillis in the primary."

Ohhhhhhhh .....

Tit for tat.

The News & Observer endorsed Obama over Romney in 2012. They want to see a run-off on the Republican side. So after a morning endorsement of Tillis by Romney, they come back with a restatement of Paul's 7-month old endorsement of Gannon without ever telling the readers it was simply a restatement of an old endorsement.

The media and its political games.

With the NC results soon to start appearing, don't choke on your dinner when you see this race appear on your screen:

Pulled the lever for Brannon today. I had no idea how many people were running in the GOP primary. That's actually going to be good for Tillis. I think anyone who was going to vote for Tillis did so. The votes of people who don't like him are going to be spread out across several other candidates.

Know little about either.

Know plenty about Hagan. She is an absolute bumbling arse.

Got a flyer in my mailbox about Tillis supposedly supporting Obamacare. Had Harry Reid's fingerprints all over it. Dems are scared to death of him.

I Voted Tillis!

With 16 precincts reporting as of right now, Tillis and Brannon are tied -------for 6th place with 6.65% of the vote.

Till is is over 40% now. Still really early, though.

No one ever explained why Brannon was a "loon."
