Going to Gulf Shores in August and looking to play 2-3 rounds of golf. Staying closer to the Fort Morgan area. What are some nice courses around there that are a must play?

I love Kiva.

When playing, remember that you are not tiger woods. Play smart and the course has some great scoring opportunities if you keep the ball in play.

The twilight special is not too bad and you can get drinks in the bar/pool area after your round. Last year that had some decent pizza on Tuesday nights.

Why not? I enjoyed my round there, but I did have one of my best ball striking days that particular day. Only lost one ball.

Well congrats on being the 1/1000 people that enjoyed that course

It's a fun course to play IMO, but I can definitely see why people wouldn't enjoy playing it. I brought a 12 pack and 2 dozen balls with me, so I was going to have a good day regardless of how I shot

Yeh I just cant stand it as a course. I am a decent golfer(85-90), but on that course I get eaten alive. On almost every shot you have to hit towards a landing zone, even off the tee box.

Kiva is definitely my favorite layout, but I've had two experiences there in the fall when we made tee times and they were doing maintenance and had a green fungus they were trying to eradicate and didn't tell us when we booked. I still recommend it, but be sure to ask if there is any maintenance scheduled when you call.

Also, you might want to check out Rock Creek in Fairhope. it is a good 45 mins to an hour from Fort Morgan, but it is reasonably priced and is a great course (always in good condition and lots of elevation change, which you really don't get anywhere else around there). We usually take in a round there on the way to Gulf Shores or make it a point to make the drive one day since it is so enjoyable.
