Headed a bit further than usual from sweetwater. About half a mile away from where we intended to start we saw some big explosions in the water. By the time we paddled there it had stopped. The wind was blowing so I deployed the cajun anchor in the area and took out the super spook. Then I saw him. Had to be at least 36". Biggest red I've ever seen while in a yak. Casted right in front of him and he turned to the lure then took off the other way. I walked it a few times and then he appeared right behind it and BAM! He took off and I unhooked from the anchor and he drug me around. Took out about half of my line. 3 minutes later, slack, bent the hook and got off. I was so pissed. Rest of the day wasn't too bad. Caught some nice ones and got into a few ponds that would've been amazing for site fly fishing. 8-12" deep and huge reds everywhere. Just couldn't stay out of the grass.

Ribit frog over it or just put a worm and heavier weight and start punching it. Swim bait hook might work too

That's what I meant by swim bait hook. Except on a swim bait hook, so it's weedless.

Yeah well y'all remember my thread about getting rid of my milk crate...

I did bring a buzz bait frog and caught one topwater but it was a bit too heavy. I just wasn't prepared. Never again. Milk crate is back.

All I got is a new sprinkler system for the garden. Actually, its not new but I just put it in so I'm calling it new.

Hog Island Gulley around 7am. 10 minutes on the water, I caught this one:

First slime on the new yak

Sorry for the selfie and no foot but I'm still trying to figure out where I want everything mounted.

Only red of the morning. Caught a few flounder but then the wind picked up pretty good so I headed back to the launch. All in all fun first outing in the new boat.

Caught some specks but nothing to really brag about and some big bull reds on light tackle. Wind was blowing about twice as hard as the forecast called for. Muddy water pretty much everywhere and a pretty slow bite for the most part. Burned a lot of gas and not a lot of fish to show for it. Besides the wind, the weather was awesome.

Still a little early, I think. Couldn't find a bunch of them in one spot. Picked up a couple here and a couple there. Only going to get better
