Can I get the board's opinion on the best value option for streaming video? Still plan to keep DTV for the foreseeable future but would like a device to stream video in a 2nd room of my house (currently have a Sony Blueray with this capability on main TV).

ANy help would be appreciated. Side note I am a current Amazon Prime member just in case that tips the scales to the Amazon streaming device.

I have hada roku for about a year and I love it. I wish they had a keyboard for it or something though because typing in my username is a pain in the arse and takes forever, same with typing in movies. That's why Amazon has those terrible commercials with Gary busey yelling at the TV.

Not sure from a cost standpoint, but the WiiU streams well, can play BluRay, can obviously play games and has a touchscreen gamepad that can be used like a universal remote.

Either the Roku or the Amazon device if you have Prime/Instant.

For those of you with a Roku why is it so slow and have so many problems on Hulu Plus?

Is it just because the Hulu app sucks?

I have resorted back to using my Xbox for Hulu Plus which I hate to run because of the fan noise and heat it puts out.

Ok just looked on Amazon and Roku 1 is $50 and Amazon Device is $100.

Is Amazon Device worth the extra $50? Is the search feature on Roku 1 kind of crappy? This device is basically for the wife who gets easily frustrated with "technology".

I am probably going to dump mine just because of this. It's slow to respond sometimes too which is frustrating.

look for the Roku app that they put out...it really is amazing and allows you to use the keyboard to do exactly what annoys you.

you can speak into the amazon controller and it does your search for you. it also has a great interaction with amazon prime, if y'all have that.

i've never used a roku, but it will have more apps and a more open platform to acquire apps

what's the problem with the Roku search? Using the search from the main page does a search through damn near every app there is and shows you where you can find what you want. I've never had any problems with it

It's slow and unresponsive IMO. The Roku could benefit from a little more ram or something.

The same apps on my Xbox shite all over the Roku versions as far as speed and ease of use go.

From what I have been reading the Amazon device is the best option right now.

Only bad thing abuot the Amazon device is it doesn't have HBOGo, at least not yet I don't believe. I believe there are talks that it will be added by the end of the year though.

If one has AmazonPrime, you gotta go with the Roku or AmazonFire (since AppleTV doesn't have Amazon).

I've had Roku for years, recently upgraded to the Roku3. Love it. Like the new headphone jack on the remote so I can turn the volume way up if I want and not wake anyone up. I also like the new one-stop search where I can pull up every channell that has a particular movie/show. Before you had to search within each App. I never thought my RokuXDS was slow, but this Roku3 is lighting fast.

Channels I use:
-Amazon
-Netflix
-HBOGo
-Crackle
-JustinTV
-WatchESPN
-NowherePorn

Hula is slow on my Roku too.

I watch Netflix 96% of the time.

The Search function is just puts a keypad on the screen.

It got the $50 one.No complaints.

There's actually over 200 channels I believe.None are like Netflix.

I watched Seinfeld and Sanford and Son on a channel called Crackle.

I think the Roku 3,$99.00 has a game compatable remote I believe.
