Do you remember the name of the town where Andy Dufresne wanted to visit?

No cheating.

If you did, congrats! Cops aren't going to throw up any roadblocks for a crook like you. Beaches and margaritas and small business boat work time!

If not, you're spending the rest of your days bagging groceries and asking for permission to piss.

Yes but can I spell it. Probably not.

Zewaytenaho. That can't be it. I feel like there should be an X in there somewhere.

Yes, but I didn't come even remotely close to spelling in correctly.

That was me. I would have had to have asked someone familiar with Mexico (travel agent?) for the spelling and location, but I could have pronounced it. It may have been a long time since Andy mentioned it to Red, though. And we have no idea how many times he did bring it up.

No, but when I read

quote:

Andy Dufresne

I heard Morgan Freeman's voice in my head.

I had a sinus infection last week that made me sound like ole Morgan, I was quoting Shawshank all day.

Until I totally lost my voice.

According to Google from Ft. Hancock to Zihuatanejo it's a 23 hour drive. Must have taken ol Red a long time to get down there.

I couldn't buy that part of the movie. A convicted murderer escapes driving big convertible, and he just cruises unfettered on down to Z town?

Watching too many episodes of Law & Order.

Andy escaped in 1966; the NSA was but a tiny department that was a landing spot for retiring FBI and CIA agents and there were no ATM machines, cell phones, or GPS satellites. It was very possible.

yea, but there would have been an all points bulletin out for him in Maine while he was visiting all the banks getting his getaway money. they don't open until 9 and they discovered him missing well before then.

Link?

How long was it from first discovery till the Warden came in.

Did they alert the police immediately? Or did the warden attempt to save face by ensuring Andy had already left the prison and thus his ability to coverup.

I'll agree it was too close for my comfort, but on the flip side what choice did Andy have but to risk it (it being a random passing cop would see him).

He needed the capital to make the getaway.
