Where would you recommend staying for a weekend in the Big Easy? Its been 8 yrs since I have visited. Like smaller properties when possible.

I like the Omni royal, walking distance to the quarter.

This is a great general suggestion. Really depends on the location you want to be, time of year, budget, etc.

The W French Quarter
Close to the Jackson Square, far enough from Bourbon.

My personal choice would be Le Pavillon, if you can find an affordable rate. I love the rooftop pool/hot tub, and the nightly PB&J/milk/hot chocolate bedtime service in the lobby.

Embassy Suites on Julie. Other properties in that area.
And to keep it simple, yes the Hilton, Marriote, and Sheraton will work for a family trip.

Also I'd suggest using Priceline's "name your own price" to find a cheap rate. I usually am able to find 4* hotels for $69 a night. Stayed last weekend at the Hilton Riverside for that rate. The most I've ever had to pay for a 4* was $79. I also park on the street rather than paying the $30 or so a night parking fee that most hotels down there charge.

I second this - my personal favorite (although it is tough to get a reasonable rate these days.)

Well....since he didn't give us any details I had to work with the limited info I had. My best friends father used to own it and when I visited it was amazing, even though they sold it I am sure it is still great though.

Do you want to be on/within a block of bourbon?

Whatever you do don't stay at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel. I stayed there in 2012 for the BCSNCG and while it was cheap, considering the weekend, it was a DUMP!
