I have seen conflicting opinions on this. Some say that PER doesn't lie. Others say it does. Some say that sometimes it does and other times it doesn't.

What does Pelicans Talk think?

It's a great stat if you use it with other advanced stats. It is not the end-all, be-all to the conversation though.

PER is a great avenue for the above average intellect fan to use as a convenient source of confirmation.

Give up the trolling, bunchy. Howard had a higher PER than Duncan this year. I guess Davis is better than the greatest PF of all time too.

You're the one who said it not me.

You said PER don't lie. I just want you to be consistent in your arguments.

It doenst lie. But one year or two years of having a higher PER doesn't make one player superior to another. but I know you already know this bc we've talked about it in irl.

It's a pretty good gauge that encompasses a bit of everything

A player has to play close to 30mpg for it to be accurate though

Davis was absolutely better than Duncan this year, and PER reflects that.

Also, AD's PER this season is better than Dwight's best year.

PER doesn't really take into account defense very well.

You can't judge any player by 1 stat, PER included. It's still a good stat though.

Well Duncan is about 6 years past his prime at this point, so yeah, its not that crazy that a guy in his prime and one of the best young players in the league had a better season than him.
