Vandy does have a number 1 overall pick. Never knew that.

Edited for being wrong

Interesting that they chose to sort based on 1st round picks versus overall number of draft picks (which would have favored LSU)

they probably thought the first round numbers promoted the SEC better than overall # of draft picks. Everyone can look at "first" round and say, damn, that's a lot of first round picks.

But it's hard to say that is a lot of picks overall. Just hard to compare the numbers to other conferences.

I would imagine they also looked at other power conference's numbers and we compared similarly to them in overall picks but blew them away with first rounders. thus, they chose that category.

But I'm guessing here.

who knows. That's why it's such a strange number for them to use and why I believe they organized it in order of first round picks (a much easier and more accurate number to determine).

Miles has 51 draft picks since he's been here for an average of 6.3 a year, that is not including 2014.

1st round 12
2nd round 3
3rd round 14
4th round 5
5th round 5
6th round 4
7th round 8

Every year except 2010, one person has gone in the first round.

I'd like to see these numbers for the past decade. I highly doubt a kid will care how many players got drafted in the 70's and 80's or even further back.

That's interesting, Florida has never had a #1 overall . Tennessee , wow . Most of that was the 80's and 90's .
