So I get headaches and high anxiety with the shakes after a weekend bender. So I cut back very much considerably in the past month since I've been back from deployment to about 2 nights a week having about 3-4 beers. I may consider quitting all together.

Anyone else had to go thru this? What were your symptoms and did you reduce your intake or just stopped by going to programs or cold turkey no programs?

That sounds like you are getting a really bad hangover. Couldn't drink like I used to after about 25.

You are just getting older and the hangovers suck a lot more. If you can limit yourself to just 3 or 4 at a time without playing the "just one more" game till 3 in the morning then you're likely not an alcoholic.

Just sounds like a bad hangover to me. If you were truly in physical withdrawal from alcohol, you wouldn't need to ask about it.

Just remember that life sucks better sober.

I sincerely hope you'll be ok. I've had a lot of experience with this of late - not me thank God - but someone very close. Trust your feelings and admit what you need to admit. No shame whatsoever.

Being Physically Addicted to Alcohol

I've had drinks every night for years and then stopped for months/years multiple times and never had an issue. I don't get it!

If you can go with only 2 nights of drinking per week, id say youre not physically addicted

You mght consider going to the doctor and getting bloodwork if you're planning on stopping and have been drinking like that regularly for a while. You might have a fatty liver and need to watch your diet for a while while it heals.

I have a friend who was a massive drinker in college and carried it into the real world (he's 26 now) and when he finally quit after about 8 years of heavy drinking he had really high liver enzymes and had to change his diet and exercise habits for about six months before they came back down.

This was me my House Dad days for 3 years straight working small jobs for The Guard so I had lots of free time. Didn't start feeling it till before deployment. Thought It'll be gone after I came back but my habit start kicking in and now I can't do a whole weekend without the quivers.

I think it's bad hangover not alcoholism or addiction. Some people are allergic and that shits like poison for couple days after.

Ps - the anxiety part is a withdrawal imo.

If this is only happen during the weekend when youre drinking, its just a bad hangover and your body telling you it cant handle it as well

If you go more than a day without a drink and start to feel sick, then youre physically addicted
