Define white privilege. And how is it a "privilege"?

What privilege has been granted to white people? By definition a privilege is something allowed to you by another party, and it can be taken away by the ones in power granting the privilege.
White people are the majority and always have been. They gained this country and their rights through hard fought revolution. They prospered as a result. They are in power and always have been. So inherently any advantage they enjoy is a hard fought right for them to use.
Over time white people have granted the same rights and opportunity to minorities, who have more rights here than anywhere in the world. In essence, white people granted a privilege to minorities. And since they are still the majority they can also take away that privilege through law.
Maybe the other side needs to sit down and check their privilege

Well, the country was founded by white men, it was white men who decided whether blacks and women would have equal rights and any sluggishness in people gaining full rights and being seen as equals stems from that situation. So to that extent, it's not so much white privilege as it is, say, white-centrism.
That said, the principles of limited government, free markets, rule of law and an assertive role in the world are not exclusive to white people. They may have been encouraged by white people but they're not exclusive to them. And the best example of that is the Asians. The Japanese and South Koreans have built model societies, and in the case of the former, after the United States destroyed them in World War II.
Asians in the United States also have no problem overcoming "white privilege," and European Jews and Jews in general have been successful as well despite past oppression. Ultimately, "white privilege" is often just another excuse for people who aren't succeeding or have a group mentality and don't see people in their group succeeding. If you emphasize family, education and moral behavior, over time, you can overcome anything.

White privilege is just a term liberals use to foster a victim mentality into divided groups. It's a blame on a particular group to support the failings of another group. Apparently some one forgot to tell those Asian minorities as that they have higher average pay plus lower teen pregnancies, lower incarceration rates, lowest single parent households and are most educated particle in high paying jobs such as engineering and medical fields.

I understand the idea and premise of white priveledge. I think its misguided, but I get it
My problem stems with - So what am I, a white person, supposed to do about it? Paint myself black? Hang myself? Give away all my money and possessions to non-whites?
That is the problem. I am white, and if I have white priveledge, then what? What do I do about it?

white privilege is getting benefits from being white.
An example of this is that a white male or female, who is reasonably dressed, can likely take a shite in any hotel bathroom in the world without being questioned by security at the hotel.

White people do not consider themselves "brothers" like Black people do. I've never heard a White politician or community organizer (lol!) refer to "the White community...".
Privilege is used improperly. White people are more prominent because they are the majority. Seeing fewer Blacks in different circles is not lacking privilege, it's a result of the numbers.
Also, there is equal opportunity for all (on a societal level) but it seems like more Whites go through the system in a way that makes them most likely to succeed. This isn't privilege, (like affirmative action is) it is earned.
