I'm sure we all know people who absolutely claim to have the "inside track" on secret information coming out of the LSU Athletic Department. These are the people who say "they have a friend who knows this, and they went to school with someone who knows that" and they are always claiming to know some crazy information about what might happen in the future or "what almost happened" in the past.

So, what is the stupidest piece of LSU-related information one of these people ever tried to tell you?

You sound mad.

I knew we weren't heading to the Cotton Bowl the night before it was released this past year. They wanted USC(Spurrier) or Mizzou. That info came directly from someone I know on the Cotton Bowl Board not a LSU official so not sure if that counts

That Saban was gonna come back to LSU after the Dolphins BUT assistant coaches voted it down.

One of the best I remember.

There's more to the story. Miles to Michigan WAS a done deal, and Saban was on board to leave Bama after his first season and replace Miles, but we backed into the title game, destroyed Ohio State, and the rest is history.

Spurrier was playing golf at UClub. Down here to talk about taking the job after Miles leaves for Michigan in 07.

LSU was Rose Bowl bound.

Would have been if USC would have won their season finale.

The variation of this one I heard was that LSU couldn't come up with the buyout money, which is the dumbest thing I ever heard. I almost hit the guy who told me for suggesting something so dumb but he was adament.

That Jeremy Hill was absolutely done at LSU and would be going to prison according to higher ups on the BOS.
This nugget came about 15 minutes after I had lunch with the DA and he said Hill would be fine.

That Ratphuk Hobley, a once in a life time recruit, wouldn't decommit on signing day. I knew he wasn't lock all along.

Legit. Dude had the entire defensive secondary in his back pocket.

Ok, maybe not legit, but they sure played like they were on the take.
