Poster on Saints Report (who I believe has legit sources from his history) said the Saints are in talks to trade up to #14 if the right player is there.

That would be quite a jump, and I would guess they'd be targeting a receiver like OBJ or a corner like Gilbert.

Slim chance it happens, but who would you want the Saints to take if they made the jump to 14?

14 is a finnicky spot because it's too low to get any "elite" players but too high to use the pick on guys like Cooks/Lee/OBJ that we could probably get in the 20-24 range

What would they be giving up? Hopefully not their 2nd round pick

14 doesn't make sense to me. Although Kiper now has OBJ mocked at 10 to Detroit, but that's still too much of a climb to pick him up if that's the goal.

I think they'd have to give up their 1, 2, and 4 unless they part with future picks

I hope this isn't true.

At the cost of our 2nd or 3rd round picks, not in this draft. If someone very high on their board is slipping and they can send a package with some later round picks then I'd be ok with it. (I realize that's improbable)

If we trade our second rounder, that would be 4 years in a row without one(Ingram and two bounty losses).

You can't get an elite player at 14? We just got Vaccaro at 15.

And OBJ isn't lasting to the 20s anymore. He's getting into the 10-12 range on a lot of mocks. Out of those three it seems to be Lee that would be the most readily available at 27 without trading up.

And yeah, I'd honestly do it for either Gilbert or Beckham. IIRC, getting that high up probably means giving up our 2nd? If that's what it takes I don't blame the FO for wanting to get that missing piece. Especially with an extra 5th rounder we could play around with to probably use to get us back in to the 2nd anyway

Think trading up to 19 with the Dolphins would be more logical. The only player this would make sense for would be J. Gilbert. And even then

There's something about giving up our 2nd that I just hate.

Yeah there's no way we should be trading up for a receiver unless we think he's a lock to be a future all pro. There's just too many other options at WR to give up that much for one.

We've been very good with them (except for Brown) yet have had very few.

Yeah I'm not sure how much I like the thought of giving up three picks to get there though. Might. Be time to get that trade calculator back out. I thought we only needed to give up a 3rd to get up to the early 20s, but it would take our 2nd to get to the mid teens

They higher up you go it gets insanely more expensive. And the further back you are the pick is insanely devalued. It's not a good mix.

Atlanta gave up 5 picks total with 2 being firsts to get to 6 from about the same spot.

Maybe we can trade our 1st, our 4th, and...

a player?

According Walter's Football's draft value chart this would either cost us our 1st, 2nd and 3rd or 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th.

Frick that, stay put and take BPA at that cost.
