Has anyone else watched the first episode on Showtime? I watched it last night and I thought the show seemed interesting.
A lot of good actors in it as we'll.

Looks good. Glad to see Hartnett is getting back in the saddle. Dude is too good to drift by the wayside. Plus Eva Green is a smoke show and talented actress and T. Dalt is fricking T. Dalt.

I watched it. Good acting and sets/costumes. Suspenseful but kind of dragged in the middle and end.

I enjoyed the episode. I do get the impression that the show will be all over the place (similar to True Blood) instead of focusing on one thing. In the first episode alone we had an Egyptian vampire, some other type vampires, main lady who has some kind of spider type thing happening and Frankenstein.
I'm also not sure if using "real" characters is the best approach.

Well the show is called Penny Dreadful. I'm sure they based the show off penny dreadful books, which were a type of pulp fiction that were focused less on story and more on the outrageous. They may all tie in together somehow, but I wouldn't be shocked if, in some ways, each episode was standalone.

I enjoyed this episode ok. Horror/sci fi is my weakness though. Thought the acting was really good overall.
Is the chick some kind of super god squad person? How was she able to just stare down that vamp like that?

I enjoyed it. Very good cast and high production value. Doesn't look like it will be as cheesy as True Blood.

Agree here and the episodes will build off each other for sure that was evident in the show last night.
