What Age Did You Start Drinking?

I was 17 when I drank for the first time and got hammered off 7 beers and 4 shots of Jack Daniels Whiskey. I actually was kind of a late bloomer where I grew up in Nashville. By the next year when we graduated high school, I didn't know anyone in my social circles that didn't drink on the weekends if they could find a source to Alcohol.
I go to UT now, and have a friend from Baton Rouge initially and moved to TN when we were in 9th grade. He swears that down there that alcohol is a much bigger deal culturally down there and that most kids started drinking at 12 or 13 and it wasn't really frowned upon.
Just curious when you guys discovered the good stuff and if any other Louisianans can back up my friend's claim.

ETA: On very few occasions when I was younger than 14. Once I was around 14 it was at least every other weekend.

18 socially. Had a few drinks randomly from 15-18.

16 in Holland. 6 if you count the sips my dad would give me when I wanted what he had in his hand (beer). He did it so I wouldn't ask anymore and not like the taste.

Kind of a blanket statement, but it is true. My friend married a girl from Birmingham and she thinks we are heathens, which might also hold some truth.

Your buddy is speaking the truth. I was 13, 8th grade, and by 9th grade drinking was pretty much a standard weekend.

I was 14 the first time I got drunk. I don't think that's incredibly young really. Most of my friends were a little younger than me, so I guess they were probably 13 when we started drinking together a little bit. It wasn't exactly an every weekend thing though. Alcohol isn't always the easiest thing to get for a person that age.

19. I played sports and was terrified of getting caught and it ruining me. Also, I saw other people show up to morning practices hung over and thought drinking was stupid. Until I went to college and realized what I had been missing.

14 me and a couple buddies got some guy at the store to buy us a case of coars.
