Daishawn is currently not rated, I am trying to get him some exposure going into his senior year. Last season was his first at Tackle...growth spurt. I have watched others' films, and I don't see that they are that much better. What do you guys think? Do kids get invites or do some get selected to attend the LSU camps? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Wasn't expecting to be impressed, but that was solid film. Don't see why he couldn't play college ball.

I don't know if you're his dad, coach, uncle, or what, but I think what you're doing is great.. To take the time to help promote this kid so he can further his education and take the next step in his life is admirable on your part..

Anyways, I don't know much about evaluating OL talent, but there's no doubt that this kid has the size and strength to compete at the next level... I wish him(y'all) the best of luck

Immediately impressed with his frame and athleticism. He may not be a top high school prospect at this moment, but that 6'5" 295 frame is a HUGE attraction to college coaches. There is nothing that an O-Line coach likes more than getting a physically gifted tackle who just needs some coaching in his technique to become a beast. O-Line coaches love turning guys like this into a finished product. Make sure he hits up plenty of college camps this summer.

Definitely has the kind of frame that somebody should take a chance on. Looks a little stiff/awkward, but that is to be expected for a high schooler who just had a growth spurt. Like how he uses his hands/arms.

Not sure, but I think the LSU camp in June is open and July is invite only, but they often ask kids who perform well in June to come back in July.

You can also try to email Jimmy Smith at Nola.com, Sonny Shipp at Geaux247, and Demetric Warren at Varsity Preps. They will probably be happy to help you out with info on some private camps and combines and how to get in touch with the right people at different colleges. All are well connected and often willing to help kids out.

Get him to camps this summer

A lot of guys slip through the cracks, pay their own way to camps, and are discovered there

Triple post....put his name and measurements in the thread title. A lot of coaches monitor this board.

Butt too high, head down, only playing with his hands, feet like they are stuck in mud, not driving off the ball, doesn't get off of first contact... Surviving off of being the biggest guy out there.

But he's big... Can't teach that.

Just a family friend. For me to spend 20 minutes a day to postively effect this young man's life, then it is a no-brainer.

If you are doing this much, for sure you're probably impacting his life more than where he plays football will.

If you guys are in Atlanta, he should be looking at places like Georgia State...

Thanks patendedgmf. First year at tackle, and I think previously playing center really shows what you are saying. His mom is going to send him to me (Atlanta) for a month in the summer so I can get him into some speed, agility and positional training.

i just see it from playing on the line myself...definitely has some time to fix the glitches.

whatever they do, don't let them pay money to "services" like College Promoters... they aren't placing any football kids in the SEC...

he can use Hudl and make his own highlight reels.. which would be seen by a lot more actual coaches if they were interested...

then, reach out to coaches and athletic directors personally... requesting more information about their schools.. etc

here is an article that nails down some of the best points and to dos 8 Steps

Indeed as the others said, but get him into camps to test his skills.

As far as the video, I appreciate to see the fast pace sequences to see how he picks up blocks. Their overall team offense doesn't seem overly impressive. However, he seems that he need to hold a line and area as he is all over the place. Also, he needs to get a bit lower as he seems to get bolt upright and try to overpower with his upper body rather than utilizing his entire frame to create a wall. But as previously mentioned, the guy does have the right frame to make an impact at the next level with proper coaching.

Albeit, I'm no OL coach or professional, that's just my raw observation and opinion...as the rest of the guys said, get him to camps and in touch with the right people to get him with the right people at the next level.

All the best to Daishawn and here's to him making an impact to the right people! Cheers!

I think LSU also holds a lineman camp in late July. Not sure if it is open or invitation only.

Firstly I echo what everyone says about camps. Every year "unknown" kids get big time offers because they show up in camp and really show their athleticism.

As for the film itself, lots of positive with some things to work on.

Positives
-nasty streak/finishes blocks well.
-great frame
-gets to the linebackers well on down and reach blocks.
-very strong guy. Powerful run blocker.
-decent feet. Nice kick step on pass rush.
-high motor. Chases down defensive players which is valuable. Doesn't give up on plays till the whistle.

Areas for improvement
-hand placement. They get around the head and neck which will be penalties in college.
-low trajectory. He tends to get a little high sometimes. He is powerful enough that it doesn't matter at this level but at the next it will. Work on staying low.
-foot speed. His steps are actually not bad but he needs to work on having quicker feet.

All in all he's a bit raw but clearly talented. With some good coaching and time to develop he could be a very solid college level player.
