Silver said. “I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers association or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or decisions involving the team.”

Sterling's response should be:

"Why the hell could you have not done this when we sucked to high hell and won about 3 games a year?"

Not sure how I feel about this one. He said something stupid and there are consequences, but can they really take away his personal property or ban him from making decisions regarding his investment? Not sure how the ban of making business decisions works or how the NBA rules these franchises.

Kind of dumb to ban him and then tell him on his way out the door: "Oh and by the way, you're fined $2.5 million."

If I'm Sterling, I'm laughing my arse off when I tell the commissioner where he can stick that fine.

I'd like to know how they will force him to pay 2.5million. I mean, if I got banned for life from something I sure as hell wouldn't give them my money.

ETA: I feel like I stole darkhorse's thunder. I know this is his crusade. Sorry darkhorse.

If the $2.5MM goes to the NAACP ... can he then get the Lifetime Achievement Award that he was supposed to get ... to go with all his other NAACP Awards ?

Question. If the courts strike this down and Sterling retains full control of the organization, race riots in LA?

So much for freedom of speech.

Clearly what he said was unpopular, however, he was not speaking in an official capacity, or even knew he was being recorded. He is being attacked for his view.

We better make sure that all the words we utter pass the PC test.

Yep!

Thing is what he said was blown way out. That's my opinion, and I don't like liberal dems.

Yeah, except they have to have legal authority for denying him the property rights he has...now I'm sure the NBA constitution has some aspects on how your property can be discharged.

However, I dont see anyway they can ban him from decisions involving his investment.

It's different bc, other than free agents, players don't have a choice whether to play for this team or not. It would be the definition of Hostile Work Environment to force anyone to play for a man who's racist views were made public.

3/4 of the NBA owners can vote to force him out. There's already talk about a bidding war going on to buy the team from him.

Are the Clippers just a franchise? And does that mean the NBA actually owns the rights to the team, Sterling just owns the franchise? That would make what the NBA did legal I think.
