ALCONA, ONT. - Still in the throes of agony from losing their son in a vehicle crash, the parents of young Brandon Majewski are now reeling after they learned the woman who struck and killed him is suing their dead child
quote:
Brandon was struck from behind by an SUV and killed while his friend Richard McLean, 16, was seriously injured with a broken pelvis and other bones. His other pal Jake Roberts, 16, was knocked off his bike but sustained only scratches.
Now the driver of the SUV, Sharlene Simon, 42, a mother of three, formerly from Innisfil, is suing the dead boy for the emotional trauma she says she has suffered. She’s also suing the two other boys, as well as the dead boy’s parents, and even his brother, who has since died. She’s also suing the County of Simcoe for failing to maintain the road.
quote:
In a statement of claim filed with the court, Simon is claiming $1.35 million in damages due to her psychological suffering, including depression, anxiety, irritability and post-traumatic stress. She blames the boys for negligence.
“They did not apply their brakes properly,” the claim states. “They were incompetent bicyclists.”
Simon’s lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from the Toronto Sun Friday.

Not that this is the point, but I'm just curious: How are you supposed to properly apply the brakes as a cyclist?

If I was the father of the boy that was killed, they would have to handcuff me to a damn pole... not sure I could restrain myself from finding and choking that woman to death.

unfortunately, it is cheaper to pay than to fight this kind of shite and she will probably get a little money from insurance companys just to go away...

She should be psychologically evaluated by a professional

I hope she dies a horrible death before she can frick up her own children too much. They would be better off without a mother.

This is bad journalism. What the article doesn't tell you is that she is COUNTER-suing the family who is suing her and throwing out accusations that she was reckless and/or drunk after she'd been cleared of wrongdoing by authorities.
Shitty situation all around but I'd bet that her lawyer advised her to countersue.

Well, so much for my righteous indignation.

Still makes her a piece of shite
If you could morally agree to sue someone for emotional distress and depression after someone you hit died, youre a piece of shite
She has all the right to fight the lawsuits brought against her, but not this
ETA: how much are the parents suing her for?

The public backlash she's going to receive from this will cause much more "anxiety and irritability" in her life. Pathetic.

Typical that they left something like this out.

Yep. Parents act like they are the victims yet they are suing somebody for their child's negligence...sounds like America
