So this morning the advocate felt the need to run an article on the St. George issue. This article is basically saying how the St George FD will take a hit if the mall joins the city. That the STG FD would then have to cover the area the city would then own.
First this is all not true and I know this first hand. To start yes the city would be taking money from the STG FD so what. If STG left it would affect the BRFD. So they are trying to make the city look bad when they are trying to do the exact same thing.
Second to try to say that STG FD would then cover that area the city now owns is the biggest lie that it made me spit my coffee on the paper in laughter. The STG FD doesn't cover it's entire area now FACT. The BRFD makes 1000's of runs a year in STG FD district's. Not just mutual aid I'm talking first aid calls, wrecks and fires. The city already has plans to build a station near the mall to cover what's their's. STG FD is the one not covering what's thiers. So for the article to try to flip all this on the city is total Bull Crap and laughable.
Thrid once again its all about the money. A two page article full of lies said not one thing about schools or kids. I see the STG people are starting to get desperate and throw hail marys trying to use magic tricks to stay in the fight. So for the people that support this plan you should start to waiver and see its not about the children.

It's always been about the children. Ever since Sharon Weston Broome, President Pro Tempore of the la senate said if the people want a school district they should form a city.
To BR it's always been about money.

Ahh, for the days when The Advocate was an advocate for Baton Rouge, when they were located downtown and seemed to care about it. Not sure what they're advocating these days. But then again, I also remember when St George area was virtually un-inhabited before the "Baton Rouge people" started buying up homes there in the new suburbs being built. Now, it's St. George. Not two or three years ago, it was Baton Rouge, and St. George was a FD and Subdivision off Siegen, one of the same that began from Baton Rouge people themselves. The short history of this concocted St. George thingy cracks me the hell up.

St. George people are baby boomers and baby boomers still buy newspapers rather than use the internet. Their time is short, and with them goes the Advocate.
