... believe it or not, the rich white guy who owns the Clippers ain't exactly MLK Jr.

This is the LEAD story of Meet the Press...and they have rolled out the HEAVY HITTERS: "Reverend" Al ... Bryant Gumbel ... and some NAACP lady in a loud pink outfit.

This story is much more important than Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS Scandal, etc., etc., etc.

The POTUS has already commented on it: TWICE!

All this over 1 old white dude that know one knows or cares about.

When the Clippers sucked ... and they sucked for a long time ... no one gave a rat's arse.

No link ... just turn on MTP. (I just turned it off.)

LMAO ... now that we have that out of the way ... i.e. the old racist owner of an NBA team ... we can now move on to Russia/Ukraine.

I first heard about his utter stupidity yesterday and had to LMAO. How much of his target audience is made by blacks? Season ticket sales might take a major arse kicking for next year and what ever the walk up sales for play off games will get an arse kicking. His players can be expected to sink the Bismarck as a response to his mouth.

What this dude said was reprehensible.

That being said, the hypocritical double standard is both hilarious and aggravating.

(1) You said Jesse Jackson was weighing in on this. So, n old black bigot who we know has called Jews "Hymies" and referred to NYC as "Hymietown" is casting judgment on another man's racism? That's ludicrous.

(2) Barack Obama had a close, 20-year relationship with a black bigot who espoused his bigotry from the pulpit of a so-called church almost every Sunday. Obama lied and said he didn't know anything about that, but we all know better. If Obama truly had been clueless, why was Jeremiah Wright removed from appearing with Obama at a campaign function BEFORE the public became aware of Obama's relationship with this black bigot?

Bottom line, racist commentary is only deemed to be relevant when it involves a white person. A minority, especially a black person, can get away with it. The fact that Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson is now passing judgment on this Sterling dude is definitive proof of that.

This doesn't seem like traditional racism IMHO as much as image, he told his black girlfriend who is young enough to be his grand daughter he didn't care if she was screwing blacks just not to be public about the relationship with blacks.

Perhaps he knows he is a joke and just wants it to be less apparent that he is a cuckold.

Onmymedicalgrind,

Do you think Jesse Jackson has any moral integrity on this matter? Do you think he deserves to be passing judgment on anybody else's racist comments?

A specific response would be appreciated.

I've been channel surfing and found the story being covered on 5 sports programs and 4 hard news programs. All within 1 hour.

It should be big news. Look at all of the years he has discriminated against black people in hiring and bedding.

You have a point about Jackson.

You don't a valid point about Obama.

1) Not only did Obama never deny being familiar with Wright's rhetoric, explicitly said that he had heard Wright say things that were controversial while sitting in his church.

2) None of Wright's comments were racist. Perhaps they were inflammatory and anti-American, but never did Wright disparage and any race, religion or ethnicity.

3) If Obama is guilty by association, then every President in the nation's history is guilty by association also, as well as the current Presidential contenders, lest you think Rand Paul's association with Jack Hunter should disqualify him from being President.

“White folk done took this country,” Wright said. “You’re in their home, and they’re gonna let you know it.” Addressing blacks in his class, Wright said, “You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be, a brother to white folk. And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble.”

Wright said the educational system in America is designed by whites to mis-educate blacks “not by benign neglect but by malignant intent.”

The civil-rights movement was never about racial equality, Wright said. Instead, “It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do.”
