I posted a thread on the MSB but I dont know if it will get any responses there. Ultimately I want to buy a legal men's softball bat to play with at pelican park in carencro. I dont know how to tell which bats are legal. Please help me.

Pelican is typically USSSA so anything other than a senior bat should be legal.

But to be safe just call and talk to the league director. They can tell you specifically what is allowed there.

Will the bat say usssa approved? Are there markings on the bat I should look for? I just know we have three bats we cant use there so I dont wanna get the wrong thing.

I was looking at softball bats today, looking to start with QSA in Erath, all the bats I saw had markings saying they were certified for UTrip, ASA, ect.

Also on that note, any good bats to get or am I better off getting a $40-$50 dollar bat from Academy?

If they're certified for all, they're not as hot. ASA bats aren't as hot as Utrip.

You get what you pay for. $40-50 bat gets you 50-100 feet less distance if not more than a composite. Actually that's pretty conservative.

Utrip is usssa right? Suggested name brands? Demarini, worth, easton, etc.?

Read up on reviews of bats. Like I said on other thread, the TPS Zs are supposed to be super hot. Sorry I switched to golf, but still know a lot of guys that play in the Conference.

I was also going to go to dicks or academy. Is there some where else I should consider shopping?

I never bought bats in stores. Always better deals online. Either softballfans.com, their forums, or eBay. In fact I went a good 4 years without buying anything, just trading bats 2-3 times a year.

Gottcha. Any recommendations for usssa under $200? Or will I have to go $300+ for whats considered a "good" bat?

Little bit more is the one I was telling you about.

Z

I'm bored, give me a second and I'll find you something less than MSRP.

You're saying a $50-$60 dollar slow pitch bat has 50-100 ft less pop on it?

Son of a bitch

All the guys at QSA shave their bats anyway.

Like I said, that's probably conservative. In league though it doesn't really matter. The last two years I played league I swung a Worth Toxic Wood bat unless we needed a HR. Doesn't have to be the hottest bat ever to slap it to RF.

I'm not much of a HR hitter..but if it bounces more than once I'm in 2nd base

What kind if bat or price range would you suggest for someone like me?

I dont need the best bat ever. Im looking for a solid bat that'll last a couple years. If I have to spend 200 I guess I will. But id rather not go over 150. If there isnt a bat worth a shite for less than 200, ill look in to ordering the combat for 220 posted above.
