I currently have a pair of new balance minimus that I really like other than the fact that the mesh material has not held up very well. I am not a big runner but I really like the feel and lightness of the minimalist shoes for working out and around town and when I do run. Im turned off by to much bright color in a shoe. Looking for something a bit understated. I spend some time on the water so I was considering one of the minimalist water shoes by Merrell. I do run a few times a week so I want something that is up to the task for running but it doesnt have to be a pure running shoe. Thanks in advance.

I've had my NB Minimus for a couple of years now, mesh has held up quite well...

The Merrell trail glove is solid.

Some flats (not recommended for running though)

I know they look funny and take some getting used to, but if you want to feel like a ten year old running barefoot through the grass, get the Vibram KSO.

I like the 610 v3.
It's got some trail type grips but don't let it fool you. It's very light and sock-like on foot.
I wouldn't train in it but racing would be fun if I got fast again.

mine lasted a year before mesh started tearing but still wearable (i threw them away yesterday because they smelled like death). I did extensive rocky mtn backpacking in these with no issues. only shoes i took on 5 day trip. the most i've run in them is about 10 miles at a time. but no issues there either.

i now wear the Merrell Parrots (latest edition--the early ones had issues). Minimalist principles and lightweight but with a little more substantial body. love them for trail runs. ran the cooper river bridge run (10k) in them. felt great.

I have the NB Minimus ones, too, and I love how lightweight they are. The material has torn in a few places, but they're several years old now. I need some new ones badly.

I have some Keens for the trail. I love them. They have last almost 2 years and held up really well, but I don't get out there as much as I would like. So light I feel barefoot, but just enough padding to protect my feet while still giving the minimalist feel.

This is what I run in. I now just order the same shoe online when my current pair wears out.

I like Merrells, same vibram soles without the goofy arse toes.

I have saucony and they're not the crazy neon blue, red, yellow.

They're pretty minimal but i do think they do have an even more minimal shoe.

Anyway i really like them, but everyone's feet are different.
