MEL KIPER JR., COLIN COWHERD CONVERSATION LSU COACHES SHOULD PLAY ON EVERY RECRUITING

half way down article!

COWHERD: So what I’m saying is, do you have programs and coaches, is there a ‘Tedford effect’ a little bit with Saban? I always look at these LSU guys. They’re better than Alabama guys as pros. Les Miles is crazy, but those LSU guys are better pros.

LINK /

KIPER: What defense completely frustrated Johnny Manziel? Not Alabama’s. He (Saban) had no answers. LSU’s. John Chavis. Look at that game.

COWHERD: Look at LSU guys in the NFL right now.

KIPER: We’ve got one, former safety Ryan Clark working for us now doing stuff. Ryan was a heck of a player. At LSU, underrated coming into the NFL. But I think you look at the Alabama defensive players and they’re all within that system.

COWHERD: The system!

KIPER: They’re all ‘coached up’ by Nick Saban, the defensive guru, and they all work within that framework of that Alabama defense. And they get to the NFL and they’re as good as they’re going to get. They’ve probably already peaked in terms of what they’re going to be.

This, but at the end of the day they both put kids in the system and they both have great talents. What kids do when they get to the NFL is all on them.

However, numbers are numbers. LSU produces more productive NFL talent than Bama. Not sure why and no one else does either.

I agree , friends and I have talked about it often . Alabama players are not good pros . So as a recruit , you have to consider that .

Recruits will consider it when the NFL recognizes this and starts drafting bama players later. It is discussed a lot now and some teams are souring on bama prospects

I guess it would be the decision by a player to think its worth strapping on that uniform with the adultry lable to win NC for Nick or get drafted higher playing for a team that has success and gets you more prepared to play at the next level.

I've wondered if being in such a tightly scripted existence like the A-holes have hurts them when out on their own? Every detail of those guys' life is orchestrated in the name of "development," and maybe they can't function without it.

Hmmm,

On one level, LSU's RBs and D Linemen might be(stress that might be) less used up or nicked up from SEC play due to LSU's deep rotations at those positions. Both programs are starting to look like NFL farm teams with the annual number of underclassmen getting drafted so they are both getting their kids into the league after only three years of NCAA play.

But in the end I am an old school macho guy who gives props to those tried and true reasons why LSU will always field a physical team who loves to bang heads with anyone brave enough to show up on a Saturday night. This guy's name is Mr. Moffit and he knows how to make a Tigers out of cubs.

Can I get an Amen?
