I've had this one and the 15 year. 15 year blows the 12 year out of the water. I actually didn't like the 12 year all that much.

I haven't tried any Jameson other then their regular whiskey.
Were the others good? Not sure a Jameson tasting is my thing.

I was surprised by the 12 because my previous experience was after having a few other drinks. In a tasting environment it was easier to appreciate the subtleties.
My all out favorite was either the Gold Reserve, which was really clean unlike the 12 year old Jameson or the Black Barrel, which is aged in double charred oak similar to a bourbon.
The Middleton was really rough. According to the Ambassador, it changes yearly depending on the master distiller they bring in. We had the 2013 and it was interesting but a little difficult to enjoy.

The regular Jameson was not all that spectacular but it was mainly there for contrast. The others were very interesting and I think worth a shot. The Black Barrel could easily sway a Bourbon drinker to the Irish side. The beauty of the tasting is that there is such a wide variety you aren't stuck with something you don't enjoy like when you buy a bottle.

I just looked up the one I had. I had the 12 year old cask strength, not the regular. If you had the regular, disregard my comments.
15 year is still awesome though.

Anything cask strength puts me through the ringer. I learned a hard less years ago with some Rare Breed.

I should probably give it another whirl now that I'm an adult.

Maybe my palate isn't advanced enough for it. For some reason I just really didn't like the taste of it.

I thought this would be about porn

in alot of cases with a "barrel proof" your getting better whiskey because they arent cut or filtered. even if you proof it down to what you like with water the natural esters, etc that dont get chill filtered out are still there. with rare breed this isnt the case but with most barrel proofs it is.

I am actually a certified Jameson tasting expert...aka...I went to the Jameson factory in Dublin this summer and was picked for their tasting panel at the end of the tour. I was always a fan of Jameson, but now it and the other Irish whiskey's are my summertime drink of choice (LSU kickoff through LSU bowl game are Bourbon months because I'm from Louisiana and frick you Euro-trash... ). I feel like Jameson gets a bad rap. Even the regular stuff is delicious

Like Jameson, but tasted Tullamore DEW ... the regular one is incredibly smooth.
