VA Lacks Funds for Wounded Yet Blue Angels and Thunderbirds Fly On

Is it a needed recruiting tool as stated by DOD or a disgrace?
The teams fly app. 64 shows a year each at around 1 million per. Is 130 plus million a year money well spent in your opinion?

So this is your problem with lack of funding?
Really man?

When the feds are gutting the military?

I don't think DOD funds the VA in anyway whatsoever.

Yes you're correct in that, but you do recognize the VA is government funded and severely lacking, while the DOD spends a significant amount of money on good will activities that could arguably be allocated elsewhere.

I don't have a problem, I asked a legitimate question. Is the money well spent in today's climate and in light of what vets face?

our government's priorities be frickED

Out of all bad spending the government does, this is nowhere close to the worst.
I wouldn't doubt if the cost of prison cable has a higher cost than the Blue Angels.

Qualifying my remarks, father 28 year vet in the Army 3 tours in Vietnam infantry retired E-9. I served on the USS Lasalle in the first gulf war.
Having used a few VA facilities in MO and Ok I can say some are great and some are the nightmares you read about. Jeff City MO was good but Ft. Leonard Wood, MO was horrible, had my appointment canceled 3 times for four months due to doctors "calling in sick" come to find out they only had one left and he was battling cancer. Tulsa is doing well with what they have but the parking lot is full all the time.
With the number of injured military members coming out of the long time engagements the military has been running MORE funding should be diverted to caring for them.
I wont even get started on the broken promises like free healthcare for life my father was supposed to have.
The government either needs to support the military with what they want done or stop sending them all over the fricking world asking them to do more with less.

VA is totally separate from DoD. This is on Congress.
The problem here is that flight demos are popular and very public, while VA tends to get forgotten. Congress funds them accordingly.

They should to meet obligations but the promises made to the military are long run unsustainable. Veteran benefits are through the roof. While every corporation is cancelling pension programs and cutting benefits, Army provides a 20 year retirement pension with full benefits
Father is in the military and I support quality benefits for those that serve, but there is a difference between rewarding service and going over the top in benefits

If the VA is anything like using TriCare on base
Posted on 4/24/14 at 5:13 am to StraightCashHomey21
My take. I'm a Vet and when I join, I was promises health care once I got out the service. I join in 1975 and fell under the old GI bill. Well, they cut that out. So much for a contract I sign.
Now due to the fact I was station for a year at Camp Lejeune, They will give me care now. As to why? People station there way back then was exposed to all kinds of chemicals that cause cancer.
