I've heard some people say the Japanese league would be in between Majors and AAA. All the major league players that I know (2 players) that went to Japan absolutely raked and they were a mere average at best in the states.

I know a guy who was a fringe major leaguer, went up and down from AAA to the majors a bunch, had a few decent years in the bigs, was basically Derek Lee's back up in Chicago.
He gets paid a frick load in Japan, I dk how well he does, but they're only allowed a certain number of foreign players so they get paid more.
Yu Darvish used to be on his team

So you can be a sub par pitcher and make solid bank?

What great times we live in.

Based on the difference in stats, I'm starting to believe it is not as good as those minor leagues. My friends dad hit .100 in the majors, .300 in the minors and 330 average in Japan with 30 plus homer seasons.

It pains me we can't field a great team in the World Baseball Classic.

Doesn't the Japanese League also use a smaller, tighter ball?

Are you thinking of Matt Murton? He went over there and was pretty successful.

Micha Hauffpauir? or however you spell it.

I think the difference is the minors is littered with guys who are hopefull that can make it to major league roster along with very young raw kids. The MLB players that go over have usually topped out and are the dreaded AAAA players. Or at least that's my guess.

No idea about the domestic talent.

More importantly, do the Japanese use Zero's on their flyovers?

Another thing to consider is that Japanese players don't come to MLB until they are older generally. I think they need 9 years of service b/f they can become a free agent. So when we compare how Japanese guys do in MLB, they are often past their prime. Plus not all these guys wanna come to MLB.

Darvish and the new Yankee are young. Also, a lot of the players we get are the best of the best over there and not all are successful here.
