Don Tomas Taqueria y Cantina in Mecca. This former shoe store kicks arse. I'd recommend it to anyone. It can do fine TexMex, but the authentic stuff on the menu is awesome.

Never been there either, Otis. I was just a little shocked at their selection. I wouldn't call anything that joint peddles the best in the city, much less the state. I mean, it's New Orleans. How is it supposed to compete with Mecca???

without looking at the list... it's hard to pick a favorite. in New Orleans I'd have to go either the blackened redfish tacos @ Juan's, or the cochon de mexicana @ La Casita. both killer.

the beef cheek tacos @ La Michoacana in Shreveport are fricking awesome as well. top 5 for sure.

Al pastor and lengua are excellent at DT. The lengua burrito will make you weak in the knees. They have awesome enchiladas and tamales, too.

There's a place here called Que Pasa Tacqueria. I love their tacos. They are so awesome.
