Camille Paglia points out one of Reagan's mistakes

I'm glad I had parents who allowed me to drink in a responsible manner (so long as it was at home) at age 15 or 16. The folks I knew who were heavily sheltered ended up being unable to moderate their intake when they went to college.

Started drinking at 12.

By the time I got to college, my advantage was that I was used to not moderating my alcohol intake.

Have always felt that old enough to vote and old enough to go to war for ones country is old enough to legally drink (hopefully responsibly).

It was a stupid idea from day one. Those under 21 have all of A to Z rights in our system but being adult enough to drink alcohol is not one of them. Thank you so very much MADD for leading the way towards sanity in our criminal code.

Most of the shitty political reality we get to deal with is the result of women voting.

Sorry, ladies. I don't hate women, I just think y'all are terrible at determining public policy.

Again, Camille is spot on.

When I grew up in South La. the drinking age was 18. It was very common for Cajun parents to give their kids beer at a much younger age. Like 12.

Kids I met in college who grew up in dry counties got into serious trouble when they binged.

Bought my first pint of Jack Daniels at 14 as I pull up to the convenient store on my BMX bicycle.

But, but, but what we need is a woman for president. History demands it. Just like the historical POS recently elected by a gullible, stupid electorate (and guess who got the majority of the women's vote).

Really? The rule never stopped me from drinking when I was underage.

Ran into the owner of Reggie's while he was on vacation some where I was working.

He openly admitted he didn't give a frick if minors were in his bar citing the whole soldier thing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; one of the foremost bastions of tyranny in the name of safety is the voting bloc of politically concerned moms.

No it hasn't.

However, if you're old enough to get legally drafted, you're old enough to enjoy a legal draught.

21 just seems arbitrary and now that I'm older 18 sounds so young! 19 would be a good compromise?

First taste of beer and raw oysters came at three. The parents and older relatives were a bit impressed.

I was more responsible at 18 than I was at 21. IMO, it should be legal to drink at ages 18-20, then illegal for 21-25 year olds. That is absolutely the dumbest age group of them all.
