Looking for a good place to shoot clays. Anyone have any experience with GOL and/or Wilderness in the Lafayette area or Tallow Creek in Robert, La.? I live in the BR area close to Riverside, but they are not open on a regular basis.

Tallow Creek is alright. Outdoor pistol/rifle range and good clay stands. Don't drive out there in a car after rain.

GOL is nice and Hawk changes the course often. Open Tuesday-Sunday. However, Saturdays is usually a charity shoot.

Cajun Elite is no longer open to the public.

Hunter's Run is a much better option (for me) than driving 80 miles to GOL. HR is open Wednesday - Sunday. Membership not required for clays shooting (skeet, trap or sporting clays). Use of rifle//pistol range is limited to members and their guests.

However, GOL is usually a much more challenging course, if you want tougher presentations. Hawk will have several stations with shots quite a bit longer than you'll encounter at HR. No skeet or trap stations at GOL.

Wilderness will fall between HR & GOL, both in terms of proximity and degree of difficulty for sporing clays presentations. Wilderness has a couple of skeet stations, but I don't think anyone checks the height//speed//path of the targets very often to make sure they are "regulation targets."

Thanks for the info. I will give HR a look soon. I wish Riverside was open more often wick.

Something around the Port Vincent area would get a lot of traffic. Hint, hint, someone open one up...
