I am a huge baseball fan. Of course I follow our state college teams, and as a major league team....I have been following the Atlanta Braves since '90.

My concern is the fact that there has been an onus by MLB to flood the league with foreign players.

Not that I have anything against individuals from other countries wanting a better life, but Baseball is an American sport. MLB has been trying to globalize for years now.

The past two years the percentage of Foreign born players has gone down by about two points. BUT the percentage has gone up in the minors from 47.3 last season to 47.8 this year. Which means the percentage will go up in the majors.

My question for the poli board is.....what are your thoughts on this? Does it concern you that American born players are losing out on their opportunity due to immigrants?

I know it could have been a More sports board type of question, but it also has an element of politics as well. TIA

Most qualified job applicant should always get the position. If they are in this country legally I have zero problem with them making a roster. Pay your taxes, stay clean and prosper.

This is the conservative viewpoint. I don't know if the OP and first poster to respond to this thread are stupid or trolls or both.

1) Baseball is insufferably boring
2) Ownership should not be restricted from seeking out the best.

This is pretty much where I am....as long as they learn to speak English as well. It is just shocking how the game has globalized over the past twenty years.

As I said in the OP....I am not against foreign born players in the game. BUT I would still like to recognize the game in a few years

Why is it so difficult for individuals on this board to just answer a fricking question without being dip shits.

I CLEARLY STATED that I have NO ISSUE with foreign born players the majors...and my concern is that I still like to see American born talent succeed. I DO believe that owners should have the right to go after what they want.

I was just curious as to the opinion of the individuals on the board.

Don't ask stupid and trollish questions about foreigners and people will not assume you are stupid or a troll.

Thank you for simply answering the question. Like I has said...I also hold this view to some extent. I just have mixed feelings on the subject as a conservative.

Thanks

You are very misinformed on baseball being a sport exclusively an American thing. Teams in Asia and Latin America have been around for a very long time and it will grow in them with more time elapsing.
