We discussed this a lot last year, but what's the feeling now on bringing him in.

I think honestly, we need to get rid of Gordon's contract before we can make any real moves of anyone who can make a difference on this team.

Ariza is a bit of fool's gold for this team.

He is a corner 3 shooter playing with the best pg in the league at creating corner 3s.

The Pelicans are allergic to corner 3s.

He's still a good target because of his defense, but I doubt we see anything close to this production on offense in New Orleans

My picks would be Jefferson and Gortat.

You are a better X and O guy than me, but I see guys sitting in the corner all the time. I think what the team is allergic to is any 3 that isn't wide open.

Need a defensive minded center/banger.

Contract is really holding this franchise back

I'd like to fast forward to the beginning of the NFL season. Or just skip May, June and July.

He is basically a bigger, much shittier version of Ryan Anderson. Y'all need someone to bang down on the block and run the occasional pick & roll IMO.

Is koufos decent at the PnR?

I know he's a good bruiser/defender

I don't really use Synergy much, and I've heard some people say the defensive stats it generates are suspect and you have to watch the video, but here's the Points per Possesion and rank covering the Roll Man in a P&R.

Varejao .74 #15
Asik .66 #23
Ajinca .73 (not enough attempts to rank)
AD .79 #27
Smith .8 #32
Hawes (Philly) .82 #39
Lopez .92 #65
Stiemsma .95 #77
Withey .95 (not enough attempts to rank)
Koufos 1.03 #98
Gortat 1.03 #98

And defending Post Ups

Koufos .59 #11
Asik .75 #16
Withey .69 #33
Ajinca .79 #79
Gortat .81 #102
AD .81 #102
Hawes (Philly) .84 #120
Stiemsma .86 #138
Lopez .91 #178
Varejao .98 #219
Smith 1 #225

If these numbers are legit it says Asik is the only guy that defends both the post and P&R well. Get a stop gap and wait for 2015. Also, hire Patches O'Houlihan to work with Ajinca on his reflexes and body control so he stops fouling so much and can stay on the floor. Ajinca actually has the defense and rebounding numbers to be the guy we want, I just don't know if he's physically capable of not fouling at a high rate.

Would we be able to afford him? I'm all for that plan if we can send Gordon's contract somewhere.

If Demps doesn't move Gordon before 2015 Free Agency he should probably be fired. That's our last chance to add FAs before Davis' extension kicks. If he doesn't opt out Gordon will be an expiring then so I would hope a future first would be enough to move him. Signing someone like Asik will definitely be of more value than a pick in the late teens-early 20s. Also, I'm not sure Asik is worth much more than his $8 million cap figure. Supposedly one of the main reason Houston didn't get any offers it didn't like was the $14 million he's due next season. He's limited on offense and is bad enough at FTs that you don't want him in the game in crunch time. Although he has improved to 61.9% on FTs this season (career 54.4%).

I'm gonna get murdered for this but sign me up for Jermaine O'Neal. I want someone with a little attitude that'll help Davis out in the middle and do the finer (meaner) things in life protecting our paint. That'll allow us to push off the Free Agent C til next year and hopefully upgrade the SF position.

I didn't see him on the list of SF free agents someone posted, but what about a guy like Wesley Johnson from the Lakers? Not a star, but a young solid role player and defender. Moving Gordon and picking up Asik and our starting lineup is:

Jrue
Evans
Wesley Johnson
AD
Asik

With a bench of:

Ryno
Rivers
Withey
Babbit

Wouldn't pose a problem for us if we plan on finishing games with Davis at the 5 and Ryno at the 4. He'd be a great fit with Davis, and an even better fit with both Anderson and Davis.

A front court rotation of Davis, Anderson, and Asik would be hard to stop. Offers matchup versatility for almost any front court we would face. Monty would still be tasked with recognizing the matchup, but it would be harder to botch than the current situation with Steimsma and Aminu

I was just pointing out his flaws to justify why he's probably an under $10 million center. I think Asik is a great fit and hope they do wait for him to fill the center spot. Demps has been rumored to have interest in him on multiple occasions. My preference is to get the SF of the future if he's available this year, sign Morrow, 1 year everything else, dump Gordon and sign Asik in 2015, and if necessary a SF if you don't get one this year.
