Took my new to me little skiff out to Reggio, first fishing trip in the boat. Windy, on and off cloudy, water filthy in most areas, lots of grass. Early I was throwing spinner baits, caught this red.

Later, found some decent looking water, got some cloud cover, and decided to throw top water. Picked up the remainder of a one man limit of reds, and caught one nice trout. I had caught some short trout earlier in the day on a mojo shrimp.

Top water red:

Top water trout:

Wind laid down a bit and I thought it was about to be on. But the tide quit as well, and the gnats came out in full force. I fled the scene with a few fish and a little slime on the skiff.

Reggio has some serious stud reds in it. Fatties.

When they show up in the lake, they are a blast to catch on flyrods.

The redfish stay stack up at the landing along with bass. FYI

Nice catch, pretty marsh trout. Used to fish Reggio a ton but do more Shell Beach and Hopedale now. You really don't have to go any further than Lake Amadee year round if you get to know it. Lil skiff is perfect for that area. Also I'm hearing the grass is getting ridiculous so may be tough to fish some of the duck ponds.......but good for the ducks.

Two weeks ago the areas around grand lagoon were getting real thick with grass. It'll probably start getting unfishable and unboatable soon.

I didn't even try the interior ponds. Went there a few weeks ago (like, FEBRUARY), and it was already unfishable. I resorted to using a Ribbit to catch a few, but yesterday I went out to Lake Amadee and hit some areas around it. Even that far out, there's tons of grass...but it's definitely fishable out there at the moment. Just gotta find some clean water.

The grass two weeks ago was very annoying. We did ok because we found a little area with no grass out of the wind. Also fished the grassy areas with current running through creating a channel through the grass. Fished right off the edge of the grass.

Guess it's time to head down the canal a bit. I haven't seen Lake Amadee since the fall. I think I'm going out next weekend, and plan on heading straight to the lake.
