I have friends who will be taking their 14 year old and 12 year old on an "LSU visit".

Basically they want to get their children exposed to LSU in hopes they will one day want to attend.

It will be a process over the next few years , but I want to give them some good advice for the first visit. I graduated from LSU in the late 90's, so there have been some tremendous changes since then.

What would you suggest?
I suggested walking around campus to enjoy the natural beauty, Mikes habitat and maybe a picnic by the lakes. Also mentioned showing them the Rec Center and the Library. And of course, takin in a baseball game.

Lil help here...what else would be good for kids this age to start developing a love for LSU or at least some interest?

In all honesty you hit most of the things I'd take a 12 and 14 year old, too. Maybe go eat at the Chimes or something as well.

Get a family friend with a daughter in a sorority to give them a "tour" of the sorority house.

Boom.

LSU fans.

Go see mike for sure. She him in person is really amazing. Take them to the new book store go eat at chimes or Sammy's. I prefer Sammy's. Are they just going or is it gonna be for a football game?

The parents are Purdue and Oklahoma grads, but have been here for a few years and will likely stay here for their careers.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Appreciate it!

No doubt , I will insist they come in the fall , as well.

Where is "here"? If they're in Louisiana within a reasonable distance then have them do just what you said and then start taking them to a few ballgames every year, especially football. Boom, they'll become fans will probably want to go to school there.

New Orleans area.

Yeah, I think over time it will happen.
The 14 year old will be tough. Mostly grew up in Montana and Texas and is not impressed with Louisiana at all.
They need to get in a boat and change her mind.

Maybe have them check out tailgating groups from their area in their age range, through neighbors, other parents at the kid's school, co-workers, or whatever. Hook up with them and I'm sure some of them will have kids the same age, maybe that'll help sway the 14yr old

I watched a 14 yr old get into Reggie's one time. And yes I knew for a fact he was 14.

Basically everything I'd recommend, and perhaps they should take them to a baseball game at Alex Box. The stadium is only 5 years old and in great shape.
