I have slugs eating my damn cat food every night. They leave those goddamn slug trails all over my back landing. Now the internet tells me that slugs love beer and you can put a bowl of beer out and they will drown in it, but now I'm worried that my cat will drink the beer and die.

Any advice?

I did make a moat around his food bowl one evening and got 2 of the little bastards, but apparently those were just sacrificial to make way for the others

Why not just put a bunch of salt around the food bowl?
A quick google says cats should not drink beer, but it also says dogs shouldnt either, and my pup loves a cold brew on a hot day.

Only one way to find out.

Put some beer in a bowl and see what kind of face it makes after it sticks its nose in it.

My wife's dog got into some vodka. Had to spend the night at the vet and had a nasty hangover the next day. Poor pup didn't want to move.

Mine tries to drink my beer anytime I set it down on the table for a few seconds to do something. Cat's just like beer I guess.

don't know but...

i had a neighbor's dog that kept getting in my trash (days before city cans). i'd hear him when he did it but he was too quick for me to catch. i thought i'd slow him down with a bottle of cheap wine. next morning up walks a beautiful silver/gray fox drunk as shite. he just sat on the porch for about 5 hours 'til he sobered up.

never caught the dog either.

My neighbor has been putting beer out to kill slugs for years. Never messed with her or any other neighborhood cats in all that time.

It is odd to see a little old lady out in the front yard at 7:30 am with a Schlitz 40 oz. though.
