Fellas I don't post much but what is the rule / guidelines of posting negative info on a charter trip?

I have a few questions for you:
For comparison, how many previous charter trips have you been on?
How did you learn of the service provider that you chose?
Did you "do your homework" on the guide?
Was the price competitive with others, or was it some type of "discount" or "promotion"?
Were you led to believe (in conversation, or in writing) that there would be things provided which you did not receive during your experience?

To be honest, I didn’t look up the price since it was my buddies’ bachelor party. I didn’t pick the charter, and wasn’t told who we would be fishing with, since it was his friend who booked everything (who I never met). I was given a general price and told to show up at a place and time. The time together with friends was great but the fishing and effort on the captain’s part was horrible. I have been on three charters before this and after looking at the websites info I realized we got 100-200$ over charged..

I guess go ahead and post the details.....just use discretion. Stick to facts, don't embellish. If you have a legitimate beef with a service rendered then I think you're free to post it.

If you're pissed because you didn't catch fish...keep moving on.....had an absurd thread last year with a fool griping about that.

How exactly were you overcharged?

If you had a bunch of people on boat it's common practice to charge additional fee for the extra guys.

Don't leave out the critical details like "we were getting hammered and my buddy was puking over the side." Charter crews usually work twice as hard for you if they have to keep you from falling overboard.

not catching a lot of fish is typically not a good reason to post negative things about a charter if they were busting their arse moving around trying to find 'em. if they were rude and/or lazy, post away but that's pretty rare for the real pros..

He probably knew y'all weren't going to tip and he wanted something extra for his deck hand. I'd expect a normal tip is twice what he 'over' charged you.

Just a random guess though. Usually the guy in charge of your crew takes care of all of this, they might have sensed that guy wasn't going to do anything, or had already paid simply the asking price.

If the trip is $1200+gas, $300-400 tip is expected if they bust arse all day.

This is what Im thinking. I bet when the captain heard "bachelor party" he was thinking " Ill go ahead and cover my arse in case these cats just ride around and get randy travis'd."

Not saying its right if that is what happened, but he might be gun shy of the bachelor parties on his boat due to past experiences

This always cracks me up, if you (or the guy booking the trip) were quoted a price and accepted the price and conditions before the trip how do you feel you were overcharged? If you paid more than other charters normally charge then I feel you have a bone to pick with your buddy's friend, not the charter.

You didn't get overcharged if you agreed to the pricing should have looked into that before you went know what I mean

Maybe your buddy's friend who you had never met told you to give him more money than you needed to and he kept some off the top, or used your money to pay for his?

Or the "friend" charged all the guys a little extra to cover the bachelor's $200 share of your typical $1200 6-pack day trip.

It seems like people are very quick to defend charter captains. Not saying the OP has a right to complain about the cost or the service, but could it be possible that the guide was just an a-hole ? I've definitely had guides who weren't bad, but not super friendly until they realized that we knew some of the same people and they changed their attitude a bit. I could see a guy having a preconceived idea about a group and being a bit crappy.

I love fishing, but I know I couldn't be a guide because I would definitely have that day about once or twice a week where I just wanted to sleep in. I would probably be the worst person in the world to provide a service to someone .

I'm disappointed in the OB. Not one treble hook reference...

Because this thread has happened a few times with very similar results.

Let's hear it! Customer feedback is always appreciated by the captains I know. Most of the "professional" full time captains will go to great lengths to fix a problem just like any good company.
